Setting a Default Job Category

In BuildWitt Accounts, setting a default job category ensures every employee is assigned a category—even if one isn't manually selected or auto-matched.

How to Set a Default Job Category

1. Go to BuildWitt Accounts
Log in with your admin credentials.

2. Navigate to Company Settings
From the left-hand menu, select Company Settings.

3. Click the General Tab
Locate the General section at the top of the settings.

4. Find “Default Job Category”
You’ll see a dropdown to set a default job category.

5. Select a Job Category from the List
Choose the category that you would like to default if no job category is selected and auto-match fails.

6. Save Changes
Confirm and save your selection to apply the default category

How it Works

  • If an employee does not have a job category manually selected, and if their job title does not successfully auto-match to a category, the default job category you’ve selected will be used instead.
